This workshop is designed to be a fun, stimulating and stress-free experience. We’ll cover the key elements needed for a successful landscape painting; design, value, color and brushwork. You'll learn to paint quickly and efficiently and deal with the challenges of plein air painting. Learn to see both color and value as a unit, identify them and quickly mix the correct colors. With this approach it’s easy to establish a pattern of light informed by the direction of the sun and develop the skills necessary to translate light into the language of paint. Each session will provide a supportive environment for the beginner and a challenging new way to consider the landscape and figure for the more advanced painter.

9:00am: South Shore Beaches
Lecture & demo, students paint
12:00 p.m. Lunch on location
1:00-4:00pm: Students paint with instruction.
Day Two: Painting the Landscape
9:00am-12pm: St. George’s
12pm: Lunch on location
1pm-4pm: Students paint with instruction.
Day Three: Painting the Figure
The Botanical Garden
9:00-12:00pm: Lecture and demo on: gesture, form, mixing realistic flesh-tones. Students will then paint from photo references.
12:00-1:00pm: Lunch
1:00-4:00pm : Students will paint the figure from the model outdoors.
