Trastevere

My first visit to Rome was in 1982, as a young art student. Back then, Trastevere was one of Rome's most colorful areas and is still considered a "real Roman neighborhood." Its name translates to "beyond the Tiber" and refers to its location on the west bank of the Tiber or Tevere in Italian.
